Budjet 2008 : an increment in scholarship rate

Peace be upon all readers It’s quite a long time since my last post regarding scholarships info & tips. Previously, I only wrote one entry for this category. Thus, for a long time, this site didn’t serve as a good scholarship sources. I need to apologize for the inconvenience services in this blog. But, this time… I will try to redeem them by giving useful tips and information about scholarship .

According to the government, they realize that living cost for students has already rose since they are also affected by the increment of socioeconomic status. In order to make them happy again with a big grin , government will increase the allowance received by students at all higher educational institutions including those who involved in foundations and language courses.

The increment of scholarship rate are between 23 until 84 percent. and this rate will be implemented starting from the 1st semester of 2007. For me it is a nice sum of money . About +-90,000 of students will get the benefit from this increment. I don’t know whether the increment it self will cover the whole sum of money received or only for tuition fees/pocket money.

Government also stated that they are currently support 17,000 students who are studying abroad. And they did state that they have increased the scholarship amount for students who study in Australia, New Zealand, Egypt & South Korea since 2006(why they are more lucky than students who study at local universities ? ).

Finally, from their budget’s planning, they say that there will be an increment in scholarship amount at least 97 percent for those who study in United States, UK and Canada. O no…thats we called too much !

From all situation that occurred above. I suggest that government should support more students available for that scholarship rather than only increase the amount of scholarship received by currently-supported students. For me, there are many students out there who are still eligible in receiving the scholarship but lacking in opportunities.

By doing the way I suggested earlier, Government can help students who suffered from PTPTN loan. No increment for those who received loan from PTPTN yet they still need to pay a high amount of money which resulted from their loan + service fee(a.k.a riba’) when they graduate from their studies. Government need to be aware about this matter. :sad:
